One of my very favourite venues for a wedding is the beautiful Larchfield Estate . Just outside Lisburn, but in a wee enclosed world of its own. It really is a venue for all weather ~ if the sun shines the grounds are glorious with a beautiful lake and wonderous flowers and gardens. If the sun decides he doesn't want to put his hat on; sure you have a myriad of wee places to grab great photos from the stable block to the greenhouse. Autumn is a beautiful time to get married; the days are getting shorter but there is still a warmth to the air; the colours of the leaves are filling not only the branches, but falling softly to cover the ground in a carpet. Susan and Shane's wedding took place in late September..and would you believe in the middle of a storm! The wind was so fierce on the morning of their wedding, that some the roads on the way to Larchfield were blocked by falling trees. Guests were phoning Susan that morning, as she was trying to get ready, and Susan was calmly directing them alternative routes.
The wedding itself was beautiful...the attention to detail was phenomenal! Perfect in every way. Afterwards with the wind starting to calm down, we strolled to the gardens for photos. As there was another quick shower we sheltered in the amazing greenhouse and took full use of the soft falling light. The shower went as quickly as it came and once again we were able to head to the gardens. As we casually walked around, there was still so much colour offered by Larchfield. There is an amazing orchard area down by the gate to get to the lake, and this provided the heavy apple burdened branches which were the backdrop to some gorgeous shots.
The day ended wonderfully, with plenty for the guests to be entertained with. From donut walls, smores right through to proper old fashioned carnival entertainment. All this led perfectly into the first dance...and that start of the happy ever after.
